Settling In

Well, we're starting to get settled in. Even though there's still a big mess of boxes everywhere, we're going to work everyday, making dinner, watching tv in the evening, and getting into a little bit of a routine, albeit one where we walk around boxes everywhere we go. Maybe we'll get to those this weekend. Anyway, I hadn't written since my stuff got here, and Katie was gaining on me, so I feel like I need to write. I've been kinda working on my website instead of writing these things, so maybe whenever I get that done, I'll upload it and everybody can check out my updates.

Last night we went out to a local bar with my coworkers for a birthday, so that was a new experience. It was good to hang out with them outside work, and nice for them and Katie to meet each other. The bar was pretty empty, but we livened it up a little and had a pretty good time. It made the morning a little rough, but I made it through the day today.

A Katie Update

I figured I should post something since it's been awhile. I am officially a Kansas residence with a drivers license and all my possessions are here. A two bedroom placed certainly seemed large but it would appear that combining two households means you need at least three bedrooms. So, the place is in a state of disarray. We have been trying to unpack but are out of room. Ok, I am exaggerating a little. We still have a little closet space left.

What's New in Hutch? ME!

Ah yes ladies and gentlemen, the great day has arrived and I am in Hutch. I arrived around 8PM last night after making miracle time. (Thank you Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas state troppers for not noticing.) My first reaction? It's sooo cold. It's negative with the wind chill and the girl who wears flip flops all year round needs to go outside for diet coke. I imagine there will be a fun post after I arrive back from that adventure. I must admit the snow is pretty. I know, I know, it's a novelty right now. Just let me have my moment.

My parents are arriving today. They have decided to come check out my new home and unpack my stuff. I tried to tell them my stuff isn't actually here yet, but they are on their way anyway. Maybe the movers will be here by Friday but it seems unlikely. In fact, the movers haven't even called with a time estimate. It's a good thing Scott arrived first. :)

Possessions!

I haven't written in a while. That's because I have stuff... I've been sitting out a couch, watching television, sleeping on my bed, working at my new job... all kinds of stuff. So right now, I have about 8 or 10 boxes left to unpack. I have to wait for Katie before I can unpack some of them, but I'd like to get most of it done this weekend. I made pretty good progress tonite. Anyway, not much to report, but it had been a while and I wanted to prove I was still alive.

Colts Win!

I guess I left a little too early and missed out on a Super Bowl champ! What a game! I'm glad the Colts won, I'm glad Tony Dungy and Peyton Manning can both get everyone off their backs. I really thought they were the more talented team, and it's good to see that the weather didn't cause enough problems to take that away from them. I'm sure Indianapolis is going crazy right now. It'd be pretty fun to be there.

The defense really stepped up and played well, minus a couple long runs. They are so much better with Bob Sanders in the lineup, it's unreal. I thought the MVP was a total toss-up, which apparently just defaulted it to Peyton. More power to him. No matter what happens from here on out, no one can say he's not one of the greats. If he doesn't rewrite the record books, it will be a big surprise. Hopefully he wins a few more Super Bowls while he's at it.

I'm Official

Today I became a licensed driver and registered voter in the state of Kansas... in the mall. Apparently the DMV gets a good lease there. Worked out well for me cuz I picked up some new socks too. They have this anchor store in the mall called Dillard's, which is basically an Ayres or Macy's that doesn't have to follow the ADA I guess. This place is so jam packed that I had trouble moving through it, let alone a wheelchair. It is also designed like a casino. I think i circled the whole store twice trying to find the mall entrance. However, the DMV lady was very nice and helpful, and I was first in line when i got there. In and out with temporary license in hand in < 10 minutes. Not bad.

I also went to the Pizza Hut buffet, which I had avoided in Muncie due to the terrible service and no actual pizza on the buffet anytime I've been there. This place had lots of pizza, breadsticks, and even two types of salad: regular and caesar. I also had a nice waitress. I'm starting to like this Kansas thing.

Apparently my stuff's not coming until Wednesday, so that sucks. I'll be finding somewhere else to watch the Super Bowl on Sunday, be that the bar or wherever else. I'll let you know how that goes next time.

And Brandon- Katie doesn't watch any of that crap, I think you got hosed on that front. I probably don't get those channels anyway, other than Oprah.
