Empty Apartment

Katie told me I shouldn't rush out here when I'd have to wait for my stuff. She was right. (See how good I am at that?) Today wasn't too big a deal, cuz there was a little running around to do, but I have a feeling a couple or few more days of it are going to be pretty bad news. I gotta call the movers tomorrow and see when my stuff is getting here. Hopefully before the weekend. I said I was gonna put up pics of the apartment, but they don't look any good, so maybe I'll put some up when there's some furniture or a cute blonde in them.

Luckily... the giant lifesaver is... someone in my building has unsecure wireless! I would be pulling my hair out right now without being able to at least surf (and of course tell all our loyal readers -- thanks jeff -- how things are going). Anyway, I guess that's about it for today. Maybe someday something will happen. I do have to go to the post office tomorrow; maybe that'll be some hijinks.

Her Side Begins

Scott says I'm 'getting whipped in the blog scoreboard' so here it is...

I have to say hearing that he was on the road this morning was exciting. Just doesn't seem like it should be time yet but it is nice to have it finally here. Since I am the organized one, I started packing a couple of weeks ago. I should be all done by the end of next weekend...just in time for work to get really crazy. I'm moving as soon as the conference (the same one I have been coordinating for the last 4 years) is finished. I didn't leave much time in between the conference and the moving date, so I have to be organized.

Thinking about leaving Houston has been difficult. The city can be so much fun. Name the food and you can get it and everything is at your finger tips. It's not like I haven't lived in the midwest, and a small town before, so I'll just have to get adjusted again. Mostly, I'm looking forward to finally having Scott around all the time.

Moving Out Day

The movers came and picked up my stuff today, and I cleaned up the house, locked up, and took off. Tonight I'm sitting in a hotel outside Kansas City and I'll head for the new place tomorrow morning. I can't wait to get there and see the apartment. Right now there's not much to say, but I'm bored in the hotel.

I stopped here in time to catch Prison Break and 24. Prison Break was pretty solid. It seems to be getting back to near-realism, after that crazy FBI guy knew everything that was happening before it happened in the fall. 24 was pretty boring. I have just started watching it this season, and it has been really good so far, but the Jack's family storyline bores me, and the Walid thing is dumb. We'll see how next week goes. Hopefully I have a TV by then. My stuff could arrive as late as Feb 7. ugh.

I'll try to get some photos of the new place up tomorrow.

Packing

I really hate packing. My parents were here for a while and helped... thank goodness. This stuff just stresses me out. I need more boxes. I don't know what needs to be in boxes and what doesn't. The whole thing is aggravating. I can't wait until I can get on the road Monday and not think about this anymore.

First Post

So tomorrow is my last day of work in Muncie, Indiana. It's the place I've lived for almost nine years now. I am leaving a job I've been at for almost three years, at the same university i went to school at for six years. Not only that, I'm leaving for Kansas, which is not Indiana. I've never lived outside Indiana.

So a little backstory:
My old job gave me the opportunity to travel all over the country working with education staffs from various museums, national parks and other institutions, including Grand Canyon National Park, Space Center Houston & NASA, many of the Smithsonian museums, and the Baseball Hall of Fame. I met a wonderful girl named Katie at Space Center Houston, and over time, I got to know her better and better. Next thing I know, we are an item, and I'm flying around for work and spending my free time with her in Houston or with her here in Muncie. Despite all that distance, things got more and more serious, and we began to look for ways to get closer together. That search led us to Hutchinson, Kansas, believe it or not.

Monday I will leave for Kansas, and Katie will arrive on February 13th. I really can't wait. From my three or four days in Hutchinson, it seems like a really great place for us to be. We have a little townhouse where we'll be living, and our jobs are about five or six blocks apart. Anyway, I'm going to chronicle this Kansas adventure on here until I get bored with it, so stay tuned if you wanna know how things are going.
